Autumnal happenings… String Mafia “Boss” Edition plays the Clark Fork Market! On a crisp September morning, amongst cauliflower and delicata, Jessica Catron and Anna Grussling joined forces with the formidable “Queens & Mr. G” string trio (Kira Lee, Angelica Kalasz, and Jason Gruber) for a late morning jam of pop tunes. What makes a better time for a bunch of music educators than whipping out some tasty arrangements of Andrew Bird and Nina Simone together? Teachers just wanna have fun! Montana All-State Orchestra/Band/Choir Festival In Missoula! It only comes to Missoula every four years! This year it’s Oct 18-20, 2023 at the University of Montana. Be on the lookout for how to grab tickets for this annual event. Grow Music has five cellists playing in the orchestra this year. Congrats, students! Grow Music is a “Partner In Music” with the Los Angeles Philharmonic This re-granting initiative supports 20 music organizations in the U.S. to help advance creative youth development. October marks the beginning of our second year as a partner. Being a partner provides professional development opportunities and financial support for these local programs: CRESCENDO CLUB - after-school enrichment classes for beginning 5th grade string players at Russell, Lowell, and Hawthorne Elementary Schools. MENTORSHIP PROGRAM - teens assisting lead teaching artists in group classes SCHOLARSHIPS - for dedicated young musicians with current financial barriers Grow Music Presents!- youth performance series Sunday, October 22nd - 3pm - Missoula Library Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon on October 22nd as some incredibly talented students showcase their skills with contrabass, string trio, solo trumpet, violin, and cello duet. Opening the event will be the astounding Naomi Moon Siegel performing her own compositions for trombone. In a rousing group finale, Naomi will lead the ensemble in an improvisation, inspired by Butch Morris’ Conduction. Mark your calendars!
