VIOLIN TINY FIDDLERS (ages 2-5) Teacher: Anna Dates: Wednesdays, June 30-July 28, 2021 Time: 5:30-6:00pm Cost: $70 Tiny Fiddlers move, dance, sing, and "fiddle" on foam violin replicas ($18 one-time addtl) to lively folk songs. Children get a great start learning music by ear, practicing violin position and care, singing jovial songs, playing with rhythm sticks, dancing with scarves, and developing both fine and gross motor skills through eye/hand coordination games and exercises. Caregivers are encouraged to participate, helping to support the child's learning while modeling inclusion, engagement, boosting confidence, and having fun together! This is a joyous class, full of musical explorations that enrich a child's development. Tiny Fiddlers is an on-going class that many families take repeatedly!
LITTLE FIDDLERS (age 6+) Teacher: Anna Dates: Wednesdays, June 30-July 28, 2021 Time: 6:00-6:30pm Cost: $80 Little Fiddlers is a beginning small group class rooted in folk music. Students learn the basics of violin technique and how to play simple songs (sung first in Tiny Fiddlers!) through an engaging class of fiddling, rhythm sticks, singing, and music games. There is emphasis on violin posture and position to provide a solid foundation for continued success in learning. In-person enrollment is limited to 6 students or one may join by Zoom - Please mention your preference when registering.
YOUNG FIDDLERS (age 8+) Teacher: Anna Dates: Wednesdays, June 30-July 28, 2021 Time: 7:15-7:45pm Cost: $80 Young Fiddlers is a violin class pulling from both folk and classical music. Students learn to play many tunes, dig deeper into violin technique, bow hold development, and building rhythm skills. The tunes are taught by ear as well as with sheet music to develop note-reading. There is emphasis on posture and position to provide a solid foundation for continued learning. In-person enrollment is limited to 5 students or one may join by Zoom - Please mention your preference.
JUNIOR FIDDLERS (age 11+) Teacher: Anna Dates: Wednesdays, June 30-July 28, 2021 Time: 6:30-7:15pm Cost: $110 Junior Fiddlers is a small group class where students learn to play many tunes, build solid technique, proper set-up, relaxed bow hold, and learn the physicality of good tone production while playing catchy folk songs and classical melodies. Junior Fiddlers is a great start and/or supplement to public school strings class! In-person enrollment is limited to 5 students or one may join by Zoom - Please mention your preference when registering.
CELLO YOUNG CELLISTS (age 9+) Teacher: Britta Dates: Mondays, June 28-July 19, 2021 Time: 5:30-6:00pm Cost: $64 Young Cellists is a class pulling from both folk and classical music. Students learn to play many tunes, dig into cello technique, relaxed bow hold development, and build rhythm skills. The tunes are taught by ear as well as with sheet music to develop note-reading. STRING MAFIA FULL Dates: Mondays, June 14-August 23 (performance on 8/23) Time: 6:45-8:15pm Location: Grow Music Backyard Cost: $210 String players unite! We explore creative arrangements of pop tunes, old standards, classic hits, and anything else we feel like playing. There are parts for all string players from early intermediate to advanced levels. Fun is always the focus - but other benefits include independently playing your own part in an ensemble, learning when to play a lead or supportive role, playing syncopated rhythms, reading in other clefs (cello), using extended techniques, holding a good groove...AND you can never have enough string players as friends. Come rock your socks with us! *As summer time is often adventure time, Grow Music understands that not everyone can make an entire summer commitment. We will extend our policy to allow for up to two prorated String Mafia summer class absences. Please communicate your schedule needs when registering.
