High strings adjudicator
Sally Jerde is currently Concertmaster for the Glacier Symphony in Kalispell. She manages a full teaching studio out of her home along with operating Meadowlark Music, a group of musicians who provide professional quality music for events. In 2018, Sally began the Meadowlark Homeschool Orchestra which held its first concert in December.
At the age of 3, Sally began her studies on the violin at the Chicago Suzuki Institute with Betty Haag, and was performing annually in Chicago’s Symphony Hall by the age of 5. Her education continued after her family moved to Florida where she added viola and percussion lessons to her studies. After graduating high school from Cypress Lake Center for Performing Arts, Sally attended college at Stetson University studying under Routa Kroumovitch and finishing her BA at the University of South Florida under the tutelage of Carolyn Stuart.
While in Florida, Sally was immersed in the music business as an avid freelance violinist and violist, performing regularly as a violist in the West Coast Symphony (now the Sarasota Orchestra) as well a substitute violist for the Naples Philharmonic and the Southwest Florida Symphony.
As a violinist, she has played for various Broadway productions including touring for 4 months with Disney’s The Lion King. In addition to symphonies and musicals, Sally also has played and toured throughout the Southeast U.S. and the Bahamas with many popular artists such as Mary J. Blige, Queensryche, Styx, Wayne Newton, Anne Murray, Michael W. Smith, Bernadette Peters, Chicago, Johnny Mathis, Sarah Brightman, and many more.
